The Reykjavik International Literary Festival

Reykjavik boasts one of Europe’s best literary festivals, and where better to stay than Icelandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura, that hosts weekly ‘bed time’ story readings. Get ready to snuggle under a sheep skin rug with a hot chocolate and listen to traditional Icelandic stories after seeing some of the world’s top selling authors speak during the festival from September 11 – 15.

Every Thursday night at 9pm, guests can come together and listen to a guest speaker read bedtime stories in English. Guests are encouraged to wear their pyjamas (the sillier the better!) and each week the evening features a different theme from Icelandic literature, including folklore and crime.

Writer wannabes and passionate readers can listen to readings, interviews and group discussions led by international authors such as the UK playwright Rachel Joyce, Dutch author Herman Koch, US writer Madeline Miller who was awarded the Orange Prize for Fiction in 2012 for her best-seller The Song of Archilles, to name a few. There will also be a selection of renowned Icelandic authors speaking and leading workshops throughout the festival.

Three nights at Icleandair Hotel Reykjavik Natura costs from £237 per person based on two people sharing, including breakfast from September 12 – 15. For more information or to book please visit or call +354 444 4000.

Return flights with Icelandair from Heathrow to Reykjavik departing on September 12 cost from £229 per person. For more information or to book please visit or call 0 84 4811 1190.
