Safestay Hostels Expand into Barcelona, Lisbon and Prague

Luxury hostel group Safestay has announced the take-over of Equity Point Hostels to add four new hostels to their portfolio

The acquisition of hostels in Lisbon, Barcelona (2 properties) and Prague brings the total number of Safestay hostels to ten, and further strengthens the brand’s presence in leading European gateway cities.

The acquisition of four of the Equity Point Hostels comes hot on the heels of Safestay’s take-over of the U Hostels Group adding hostels in Madrid and Paris to its already well-established UK hostel portfolio. Prices across all Safestay hostels start from €20 / £20 per bed per night.

The four Equity Point Hostels joining the Safestay portfolio are: Equity Point Lisbon, housed in a former palace in the city centre; Equity Point Prague in the heart of the old town; Equity Point Barcelona Sea, a beachfront hostel; and Equity Point Barcelona Gothicin the Ciutat Vella district.

Equity Point Lisbon

Built in the 1800s as a palace for a wealthy Lisboan family, Equity Point Lisbon, soon to be renamed Safestay Lisbon, is superbly located in the heart of the city at the crossroads of the Chiado, Bairro Alto and Restauradores neighbourhoods. There is a transit hub nearby with an underground station, the famous ‘Subida de Gloria’ streetcar, and numerous buses. The hostel is just a three-minute walk from the ‘Mirador de San Pedro de Alcantara’, offering one of the best views of the city.

The facade of the hostel has been restored to its original pink, while inside, ornate three-metre high ceilings, and the original wooden floor and fireplaces have been retained in keeping with the building’s grand history.

Equity Point Prague

Equity Point Prague, soon to be renamed Safestay Prague, is located in the heart of the city’s old town on Ostrovni Street, just moments away from the popular Slavia Café, and five minutes’ walk from the famous Charles Bridge (Karlúv Most).

Noted for its wide façade and fabulous interior courtyard, all 26 rooms boast natural light all day long. This hostel has its very own cave in the basement which has been converted into a beautiful and original communal space for guests.

Equity Point Barcelona Sea

Proud to be the closest hostel to the famous beaches of Barcelona, this beachfront hostel, soon to be renamed Safestay Barcelona Sea, is located in the Barceloneta district, a quaint and colourfulfisherman’s neighbourhood ten minutes from the legendary La Rambla. The area still maintains its charm with busy restaurants serving the best paella, fish and shellfish in Barcelona.

Equity Point Barcelona Gothic

Equity Point Barcelona Gothic is located in the Ciutat Vella district, the oldest part of Barcelona famous for its historical monuments, narrow streets and bohemian atmosphere. Equity Point Gothic, soon to be renamed Safestay Barcelona Gothic, is just 150 metres away from the Picasso Museum, and two-minutes fromLa Rambla.

The cultural hub of the city and the first choice for many travellers to Barcelona, the Gothic district is undoubtedly one of thecoolest parts of the town, with a vibrant night life, restaurants and trendy bars.

Safestay Barcelona Gothic will undergo a refurbishment programme to be completed by January 2018.
