Cava and Tapas in Valencia – a new weekend break from The Spanish Thyme Traveller

Fancy discovering the world of cava in Valencia?

This NEW weekend from The Spanish Thyme Traveller takes you on a unique cava tasting experience where you will not only try Valencia’s sumptuous local food but you will also visit two of the best wineries producing cava in this region.

Valencia has great nightlife, and is capital to a region that produces some very special and outstanding wines. Among these wines, cava has become the latest and most fashionable addition. This trip will familiarise you with different styles of cava including how it is made and why it is called cava.

Day 1- Lunch in the city centre or at the beach, where you can try one of the famous Valencian paellas – but don’t eat too much because in the evening you will be having tapas and cava at a tapas bar in the centre of the city.

Day 2- We will visit two quite different wineries and learn all about the magnificent Spanish bubbly, cava, and, of course taste different types. The visits take place outside of the city in a region called Requena. Each winery has a unique character.

After the tasting it’s time for a typical rustic outdoor paella at one of the bodegas (wineries).

Return to Valencia late afternoon, leaving time to further explore the city centre and its nightlife.
Day 3 (depart at your leisure)
You will be staying in a perfectly situated boutique hotel in the centre of the city and will have time to visit the city with its mix of old and new; from the historical centre of the city or the modernistic City of the Arts and Science Museum. On the one hand Valencia is a maritime port and on the other, the capital of a fertile land. Valencia offers a window into the typical Mediterranean lifestyle of the Spanish: amazing food, nightlife and relaxation.

Sunshine, cava, delicious food – sounds like a great combination!
